01 · Side slopeWhen does it roll?Lift and a roof full of gear put the weight up high, where it does the most harm. Tilt the slope and watch the plumb line wander past the downhill tyres. That’s the moment you become a news story.
02 · Rock flexWheels on the ground?Raise the rocks until a wheel lifts. Solid axles flex further than IFS, which is annoying for the IFS crowd, and lift buys you travel. Wheels in the air do nothing useful. Except look dramatic.
03 · TractionLockers and low rangeWith open diffs, a wheel in the air just spins, gloriously and pointlessly. Lock them, drop into 4L and see how much force actually reaches the rock.
