Glasshouse Mountains Accident Holden Colorado

just watched the video of the accident @ glassy on tower hill.
WOW!! I've done that hill quite a few times, but now I'm nervous......
so glad to hear everyone was ok, with the only casualty was the 4b.
goes to show how you always have to be on your toes, so it was the fly by wire throttle to blame......that's why I love my old school mechanical 4b. no dam computers to f**K you up.
hope everyone involved gets back on the tracks & puts that behind them.

Makes me glad there are only 2 electronic things in my Diesel Pajero as well. Fuel shutoff solenoid and glow plug warmer both of which if fail will only slow me down as they can both be bypassed easily.

I've had a throttle stick wide open on my old 1975 mini but i realized quickly enough that it only just hit redline. It's a bit more fiddly in my Pajero with the turbo timer but only take a sec or 2 longer.

In the video it says that it was due to a faulty fly-by-wire system. But I think I saw in the video a manual gear stick. That makes me wonder because the first reaction in a manual car would always be pushing clutch and brake at the same time (been driving manual for 8 years or so). I haven't seen the brake lights coming on either. And somewhere in the comments on facebook it says, that Matt (the driver) has confirmed, that he became unconscious when the car made that big jump. Would be interesting to hear, what actually has happened - if it was a factory fault of the car or driver failure. Hope that Matt gets well soon and that his truck is covered by insurance. No one wants to have a beautiful weekend like this ending up in a never ending drama.

Yes a very serious thing indeed, He did look stunned on the first shot of him in the car so it's entirely plausible that he was unconscious and the car went for a ride on it's own
