Intercolonial Remoulds Mud Tyre Review

hey all. after much soul searching, googling, & bank account gazing, I've chosen my new muddies.
they are (drum roll)......... the intercolonial remoulds!!!!
as they are for off road only, I felt the general low speeds of offroading would suit the remoulded tyre. i'll admit, price was a factor, $100 each for 265 75 16 compared to name your price for the big brands, but the fact is, a grand + just for my offroad tyres was not an option.
they will arrive in a week or so, & i'll be keen as to try them out. after all they have federal couragai's to follow on from.
i'll give them a few test runs around glasshouse & then they will be along for the coff trip when that's on.
I'm very interested to se how a remould performs, so I will make this my first ever product review.
i'll measure tread depth when they arrive, & be following wear rates & so on. but most of all, obviously, how they go in the bush.
so let me know if your interested in me reporting on how these babies go.
cheers guys/girls.

Do you have pictures of the tyres and the brand and model name? :)
HillsForThrills

Yep, be very interested to see a report on them... :)

ok Dan...just for you. :-}
1MAK......you sort out my smileys before you worry bout my muddies..........hahaha.
intercolonial only do 1 muddie remould. they can be any make & model cases they use to do the remould on.
i'll see if I can get a photo......hang on....
ok...
the picture uploads....but won't attach to the post........got me stuffed.

Where are they based...? Tyres look alright, not the best sidewall protection, but good tread pattern, pretty aggressive... Not sure it'll help ya keep up with the 'Troll, but that's why I've got a winch ....
y_b_normal OP

I've only heard good things about the mud hogs 1mak. especially regarding wear.
they are in Sydney Dan. all done to aussie legal standards for remoulds.
have to agree on the sidewalls.....no sidebitters.....but hey......
don't need t keep up with the troll, i'll be waiting down the track for ya......hehehe :-}
HillsForThrills

Ha ha ya got that right mate!! DOWN the BOTTOM of the track while I climb to the top and describe the sensational view over the radio...
NAVMAN

It will be interesting to see how they go.
I ripped a lug off my MTZ the other day on a track not 10 mins from my house. It's all loose rocky shit so you're scrabbling the whole way up a big steep hill.
HillsForThrills

Aawww you're just teasing us now Matt!! Hehe can't wait to get down there... and yeah, I've ripped a few lugs off my MTZ's before... Mainly only my old 33's though, the 35's seem to be holding up better, but that could be because of the way I stored them before fitting and then my run-in procedure...
y_b_normal OP

well...the surprises started early. I got the email on my phone to say they were loaded on a truck in sydney @ 12.52 pm Thursday, I signed for them @1.30pm on Friday as they were rolled off the truck. happy me!!
man these puppies are chunky, there is an art form to photo's to show how chunky the tread is, but it's an art form I havn't mastered yet!!
Saturday was a blur of oil changing, fuel & oil filter replacing, closely followed by sump plug washer destroying. AAARRRRRRRHHHHH!!! (insert appropriate smiley here)
so that's all fixed but now it's Sunday so no tyre fitting shops open.
so basically the tyres are remoulded 265 75 16's. they do have one feature not in the advertising pics. a little rib on the sidewall just below the finish of the edge of remould. I'm wondering if it's to help with bagging after the remoulding process. i'll get some pics up when the teenager gets home.
oh, & the tread depth is 15mm. not bad at all.
