two weeks ago we camped with some friends of us at the Flanagan's Reserve which is approx. 1.5h away from Brisbane.
The camp ground is quite big and nicely set up. There's a lot of space for not only tents but also camper vans and camper trailers. Close to the campground runs a nice little creek with clear water and lots of fish in there (you can see them jumping in the early morning hours). We discovered 2 rope swings along the creek - great for kids. If you have inflatable boats, bring them. It's great fun to float along the creek.
the facilities are neat and clean. There's freshwater and the little shop on the entry has everything from ice to coffee. The owner of the shop is very friendly and helpful. He knows the area quite well and can give you advice if you are looking for offroading tracks. The offroad climb up to Mt Barney is approx 10mins away but will stretch up to 45 minutes depending on the conditions. I wouldn't suggest to get up there right after heavy rain but it's fairly moderate when it's dry. Steep climbs with lots of gravel and a few slippery rocks will await you.
Each camp spot has a designated fire spot (basically old fuel drums cut in half) and you can get a wheel barrow full of wood for 10 AUD from the camp lords. Camping cost 8 bucks per person per night. Pets are allowed too.
