Just found this neat gem at Kickstarter.com, a foldable Kayak which you can store in a backpack. Love the idea and can't wait to see it in action.

The Folbot Cooper Kayak is an awe-inspiring, portable and comfortable folding kayak that is the ultimate in touring kayaks. Easy and quick to set-up, this forward-thinking, shape-shifting kayak is clever, innovative, and breathtaking. Designed for tranquil waters, such as lakes and calm rivers, the Cooper Kayak has also been used for tackling oceans, and it comes with a strong reputation, along with many durable features.

Founded in 1933 Folbot is the leader in folding kayaks. The entire boat fits in a backpack that can be taken anywhere you go. Throw it in the trunk, pack it on a plane, or strap it to your back and you have a performance, quality kayak with you at all times. Very portable and light weight, Folbot is perfect for anyone that wants to have a kayak but not the space to store it.

The Cooper Kayak is fast and sporty, and it is designed to open our eyes to the world of the great outdoors, making traveling across waters accessible and easy to do. The frame is light but strong making it well-equipped to handle varying conditions.

Interesting... :) ... I've checked out the fold-a-boats a few times as were/are advertised in 4WDA etc. and can take a small outboard/electric on the back... Foldaway certainly seems the way to go for both weight and space...
