Thinking of buying a JK

I'm thinking of buying a JK in a 4 door. What is more reliable  petty or diesel?

Is the Auto reliable?

What else should I consider? Bus at means is be looking at something with around 200,000ks.

hey mate, i have a crd and the torque is great, particularly if towing. Definitely recommend getting the auto if you got the diesel as the manual comes with a crappy dual mass flywheel (most convert this to a single). Only thing is for higher km CRDs I would be making sure that it has had a catch can installed for as much of its life as possible, regularly serviced every 5k etc. They are a great motor, but need to be serviced bang on. Jump on the Jeep Wrangler CRD facebook page, it's a great resource. Some videos on the diesel can be found here too: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj6QdCf_VFsUZ8u727dfFWQ

Thanks for the Reply Args. As much as I wanted a JK it just wasn't to be.

Picked up a 2012 Prado GX. However primarily being the wife's vehicle it will open up the 2 door jeep option for myself, eventually.

For me I'm going with diesel, this is going to be my first new vehicle and it will hopefully last me 20 years or so. With that I think after those 20 years diesel will be a very hard option to get in vehicles due to all the emission regulations on them. I prefer them because of the power, you can put a simple chip in them and get much better MPG/HP (compared to getting the same results with gas), I do also drive long distances frequently so the MPG boost is needed. And now these days, the cost of maitnece on a diesel engine is almost the same as a gas, just look at the new GMC terrain. And as a plus the 8-speed will be more efficient and knowing jeep, they'll put an off road mode in that will lock in certain gears or give you the ability to shift up and down.
